SRI VENKATESWARA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
The University Library was started in the year 1955 with a small collection of 6,700 books taken from the Sri Venkateswara College, Tirupati, administered by Tirumala TirupatiDevasthanams. Initially the library was housed in one portion of the college main building. Later, it was shifted to the present building which was declared open on 12thJuly 1964, by Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. He described it as “Taj Mahal of the South”.

Competitive Examinations Cell
The novel feature of S V University Library is the establishment of Competitive Examinations Cell with the main objective of providing reading material for student community preparing for various competitive examinations. The cell provides books and Periodicals relating to Central Civil Services, Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, TOEFL, GATE, GRE, GMAT, CAT, UGC-NET, SLET, Teacher Recruitment ( DSC ) and other competitive examinations. So far, we have procured about 12,500 documents relating to various Competitive Examinations
Digital Library
S V University library is a participating member of UGC INFONET Programme. Under this programme, the V-Sat facility to have access to Internet is installed in SVU Computer Centre. The INFLIBNET has provided 1 Gbps connectivity to S V University. Through this it’s getting about 15000+ E-Journals and other E-Resources. In order to provide access to Full Text E-Journals and Databases available under UGC-INFONET E-Shodh Sindhu Programme Library has established a Digital Library with a provision to accommodate 40 users at a time.
Access System
The Library follows Open Access system in all the wings of the Library. The books are classified following Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and are catalogued following Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules. The Library maintains three types of Catalogues as follows.

S V U Library OPAC ( Online Public Access Catalogue )can be accessed from any where through Internet. Readers can sit in their respective libraries and departments and they can search the Library Database to find out the availability of documents of their choice in S V U Library
